Dear Andrea, Paula and Alex
How are you? In the last few days we have worked with a presentation about Spain. We have learned some facts about Spain and the Spanish culture. We have also compared how it is in Spain and how it is in Norway. In this letter we are going to tell you a little bit about what we have learned.
Here are
some facts we have learned:
-There is
mainly three climatic zones in Spain. Mediterranean climate, continental
climate and oceanic climate.
- Spain is
a democracy and a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. That mean that they
have a king but he can’t really decide or change much.
-The king
is called Juan Carlos 1, and the Prime minister is called Mariano Rajoy.
- The national
day is celebrated on October 12th. This date marks that Christopher
Columbus discovered America, although he thought he was in India.
- The
official language in Spain is Spanish. But other languages live side by side
such as Catalan in Catalonia, Galician in Galicia and Basque in the Basque
Country.
- The national
day is celebrated on October 12th. This date marks that Christopher
Columbus discovered America, although he thought he was in India.
- The
capital in Spain is Madrid. Madrid is also the biggest city, and the population
is over 3,2 million people.
-Flamenco is
a typical Spanish dance. It was originated in a place called Andalucía in
Spain. It is originally a gypsy dance. The dancers often play on castanets
while they are dancing and it is much footwork. The music for the dance is
guitar, song and clapping.
- Siesta is in the middle of the day, when the Spaniards is going to sleep.
They close all the stores, except off those shops that is in areas with lots of
tourists. As I said it is a couple off hours in the Middle off the day, usually
from 2 to 5 pm. The reason why they do this is because before it was too hot to
work at that time off the day. But today most of the shops have have things
like air-condition. Why they do it now is mostly because it is a habit.
Questions
to you:
-
What
do you eat at christmas?
-
How
long is your school day? When do you start, and when does it end?`
-
How
long has Mariano Rajoy been prime minister in Spain?
We are
looking forward to hear from you, and hope you have learned a little bit about
Norway.
